Where do visitors traveling to Örebro come from?

In 2019, a record year, 739,277 guest nights were recorded in Örebro. This made Örebro the 15th most visited city in Sweden. In 2020, the number of guest nights dropped to 473,235—only to rise to 741,577 in 2022, thereby breaking the 2019 record! Most visitors to Örebro come from Sweden. Of the international guests who visited in 2022, the largest numbers came from Norway and Germany.

Why visit Örebro?

Traditionally, visitors can be divided into business travelers, conference attendees, and leisure travelers. Most hotel rooms in Örebro are booked by business travelers and conference attendees, but the difference in numbers between the groups has narrowed over the past 10 years. The trend, therefore, is that Örebro is attracting more guests who come for vacation. A trend that has persisted throughout the pandemic years.

What do visitors think of Örebro?

The 2022 “Travel in Sweden” survey reveals that a warm welcome from the local people is very important to how the visit is experienced. “The way people are treated” ranks third, “the atmosphere at the destination” ranks second, and in first place (for the first time) is “perceived safety at the destination.” The way people are treated and the atmosphere thus rank in the top three of the more than 15 statements that were measured.

So what do Swedes think of Örebro and the way people treat them here? Well, about 66% felt that people are friendly. This puts us slightly below the average for the other places in Sweden that were surveyed (67%).
