Published January 17, 2022 / Updated April 9, 2026
When spring is in the air, love is in the air! Örebro is teeming with romantic spots perfect for a cozy date, a Tinder fling, or those “just-because-I-like-you-so-much” get-togethers.

1. City Park

A lush green park with a fragrant oasis of roses—doesn’t that sound romantic? Stadsparken has won the competition for Sweden’s most beautiful park —and has even been named Europe’s fifth most beautiful park. Here you can relax and enjoy the park’s various sections: Blomstergården, Rosengården, Magnolialunden, Rhododendronparken, and Örtagården. Every part of Stadsparken has its own charm.

A stroll through Stadsparken, where you can set up a picnic in the rose garden—now that’s romantic! Then you can continue walking through the park in the gentle breeze of a late summer evening, follow the Svartån River, and watch the sunset.

2. Karlslund Cultural Reserve

Want to take your date on a journey through time? Visiting the Karlslund Cultural Reserve is like taking a trip back to the beautiful 19th century. The stately, bright manor house is a lovely destination for a sunny spring day. Around the manor, there are winding paths perfect for walking hand in hand. Along the walking paths, there are benches where you can take a break. Here and there, you’ll also find mysterious, overhanging deciduous trees that provide pleasant shade and even a bit of privacy if needed.

The most romantic spot in Örebro is the trails by the waterfalls in Karlslund. It’s so beautiful in the spring, but also during other seasons!

3. The Castle

A classic Örebro date—and a surefire hit in the summer—is "ice cream on the deck." And not just any deck, but the large wooden deck with steps next to Järntorget. Here you’ll find the city’s best view—of the castle, of course! Buy ice cream at a nearby café or kiosk. If you want to try locally produced ice cream, check out the sheep’s milk ice cream En får tacka, Lyckliga hönans ice creams, and Handelsboden’s homemade soft-serve. In this article, you can find tips on more great ice cream spots in Örebro.

4. Hotels

Escaping the daily grind and checking into a hotel for a night... Isn't that the epitome of romance? Home Hotel Borgen tops the list for Örebro residents when it comes to romantic hotels—and given its turrets and towers, it's easy to see why.

5. Oset and Rynningeviken

"You can be a bit on your own, yet still almost right in the heart of the city." That’s how one Örebro resident describes the charm of Oset and the Rynningeviken Nature Reserve. Just a short bike ride from the castle lies this area, which has become a favorite outdoor spot for many Örebro residents.

Start at the Naturens hus café and grab some takeout snacks there. Take a long walk along the water until you reach the glasshouse in Rävgången. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic! Don’t forget your binoculars—there are lots of beautiful birds here.

6. Sommarro Cultural Reserve

In the 1800s, Örebro’s bourgeoisie built their summer homes in Sommarro. The Sommarro Inn and the park surrounding the building remain as reminders of that era, creating a charming, historic setting to stroll through. Many lovebirds have found romance along Sommarro’s walking paths—at least, that’s what the paths’ names suggest. Here you’ll find Bröllopsstigen(Wedding Path), a 500-meter-long trail that is accessible to all. The trail was a wedding gift from the City of Örebro to Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

Along Bröllopsstigen is also Vigsellunden, a grove of six large linden trees arranged in a semicircle. Did you know that linden leaves look like hearts? In Latin, the linden is called Tilia cordata—and cordata actually means "heart-shaped."

Up by Sommarro, on the big lawn, there’s a bench that tilts back slightly. It’s super cozy when the sun’s out!
