Plenty of bright spots in Örebro

Published November 3, 2025 / Updated November 3, 2026
Just when it’s darkest outside, Örebro glows with a little extra light and warmth. In the heart of the city and throughout Örebro, you can attend several events that bring warmth during the darker months of the year.

What do you think about concerts bathed in the glow of thousands of lights, sparkling, luminous celebrations, and light walks of all kinds? Here are a few suggestions for bright spots in the darkness of fall and winter. The list is updated regularly.

Winter Lights in the City

The winter lights that brighten the streets and squares of Örebro are turned on gradually through the last week of November. By then, all the lights will be on, and the city center will once again be wonderfully sparkling and shimmering.

Date and location: November–February in downtown Örebro.

Winter lights illuminate the streets of Örebro from November through January.

Glimpses of Light in Örebro

As darkness falls, various light installations illuminate select locations in Örebro’s city center. Each installation is designed specifically for its location. Some blend into their surroundings—others take up more space and create a “wow” effect.

Date and location: November 18 – January 31 at various locations in central Örebro. For more information, visit the Örebro Municipality website.

The Enchanted Kumla City Park

Experience an entire park filled with light installations. The former favorite, “Enchanted Lake,” has now spread throughout the rest of the city park, toward the Sjöparken greenhouse.

Date and location: October 27–March 22 in Kumla. You can find more information about this at Visit Kumla.

Candlelight Concerts at Castles and in Churches

Candlelight Concerts is a series of concerts held at unique venues around the world, illuminated by thousands of candles. This fall and winter, you can enjoy music by ABBA, Coldplay, and Vivaldi at Örebro Castle and in the Church of the Holy Trinity, among other venues.

Date and time: Various dates and times from November 28 to February 13 at Örebro Castle and the Church of the Holy Trinity. For more information, visit Fever.

At Örebro Castle, among other places, you can attend a concert by candlelight.

An atmospheric festival of lights featuring over a thousand torches and illuminations that light up the evening darkness. There will be shadow figures and shadow theater in Wadköping—and in addition, the Stadsträdgården café and restaurant, Gamla Örebro, the museum exhibits, and a few shops will be open.

Date and time: November 8, 4:00–6:00 p.m., in Stadsparken, Wadköping, and Stadsträdgården. You can read more about the event on Wadköping’s website.
