Over the years, Opera på Skäret has built a reputation as an internationally established venue for summer opera. Today, the opera house is one of the world’s most distinctive—and world-renowned for its acoustics. Here in the magnificent wilderness of Bergslagen, singers and staff from around the world create equally magnificent musical experiences.
For the 2027 season, *Macbeth* is on the repertoire. From July 31 to August 29, you’ll have the opportunity to experience one of Giuseppe Verdi’s most dramatic works in a unique setting—an old sawmill by a vast lake. True magic.
It all began in 2004
The first production took place in 2004, when two opera galas were staged featuring works by several of the great masters. Since then, everything from *Rigoletto* to *The Magic Flute* and *Un ballo in maschera* has been performed. The 2026 production was *La Bohème*, and the classic *Macbeth* is scheduled for 2027.
How to get here
Opera på Skäret is located in Kopparberg, 80 kilometers north of Örebro. You can easily get there by car—or you can take a package tour, an opera train, or an opera bus.
