Over the years, Opera på Skäret has built a reputation as an internationally established venue for summer opera. Today, the opera house is one of the world’s most distinctive—and world-renowned for its acoustics. Here in the magnificent wilderness of Bergslagen, singers and staff from around the world create equally magnificent musical experiences.
For the 2026 season, La Bohème is on the repertoire. From July 25 to August 3, you’ll have the opportunity to experience one of the opera world’s most beloved masterpieces in a unique setting: an old sawmill by a vast lake. True magic.
It all began in 2004
The first production took place in 2004, when two opera galas were held featuring works by several of the great masters. Since then, everything from Rigoletto to The Magic Flute and Un ballo in maschera has been performed. The 2025 production was Turandot, and in the summer of 2026, another work by Puccini will be performed in the unique opera house—namely, La Bohème.
How to get here
Opera på Skäret is located in Kopparberg, 80 kilometers north of Örebro. You can easily get there by car—or you can take a package tour, an opera train, or an opera bus.
