Published December 4, 2020 / Updated April 16, 2026
Want to hit the trails or carve some stylish turns on the slopes? Örebro has cross-country trails waiting for you—and the nearest ski slope isn’t far away.

If you’d like to go cross-country skiing in and around Örebro Municipality, there are plenty of trails to choose from. Visit the municipality’s website and scroll down to the “Cross-Country Trails” section to see which trails are groomed and where they’re located.

A good tip is to expand your horizons to include the entire Örebro County. That way, you’ll have even more miles of ski trails to choose from:

Cross-country skiing in Kilsbergen

In Kilsbergen, with Ånnaboda as its hub, there is a wide variety of cross-country ski trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels to choose from. When the weather permits, there are a total of 70 kilometers of groomed trails—ranging from short, easy recreational trails to more challenging elite trails.

If you enjoy hiking trails, options include the Bergslagsleden trail between Blankhult and Suttarboda, a classic hike through beautiful surroundings. Another option is the Kilsbergsspåret trail, which extends 27 km north to Nora, and its “parallel trail,” Vintergatan. In Nora, you’ll also find the Digerberget outdoor recreation area, where you can start your hike on the aforementioned trail.

Accommodations and dining near the ski trails

Ånnaboda features large parking lots, a café, and a restaurant. If you’d like to stay overnight, First Camp Ånnaboda offers comfortable accommodations in both hotel rooms and a cottage village, complete with a relaxation area and a sauna.

Tomasbodastugan is one of the oldest outdoor recreation centers in Sweden and now operates as a seasonal café (open November–April). The old cottage is located in a roadless area, a three-kilometer ski trip south of Blankhult.

Downhill skiing at Kvarntorpshögen

The Kvarntorp area in Kumla offers both cross-country and downhill skiing. There are also ski lifts and equipment rentals available.
