Pack a picnic, put on some warm clothes, and get ready for a full day outdoors. Here are some tips for sledding hills in Örebro. Several are close to downtown, and one is a few mil outside the city.

Most important of all, of course, is to bring your sled, snow racer, or kick sled. And don't forget your helmet and sled cover. Then you'll be ready for a wonderful day on the slopes.

Näsbykullen

Overlooking the rolling fields of the Oset Nature Reserve lies Näsbykullen, which turns into a small sledding hill in the winter. There is also a rest area here with a bench table where you can set out your picnic.

Vivalla Hill

Vivallakullen is located in Hjärstaskogen between Vivalla and Nya Hjärsta. At 57.5 meters above sea level, this small hill offers unexpectedly beautiful views. There are rest areas with picnic tables and even a barbecue area. Maybe you’ll make some stick bread for a snack?

Sörbybacken

Sörbybacken offers adventures in both summer and winter. The steep hill is perfect for daredevil sledders. You’ll also find Sörens Vedugn here, which bakes pizzas with sourdough crusts. Sledding + pizza = a perfect match, right? For those who’d rather work out than go sledding, there’s a large outdoor gym waiting for you.

Sörbybacken features an outdoor gym, a fitness staircase, and a sledding hill.

Mushroom Hill

A popular little sledding hill right next to Svampen. The bonus, of course, is that you can take the elevator 58 meters up and enjoy lunch or coffee in this iconic building—with a 360° view of the entire city of Örebro.

Tybble Hill

Right next to the ICA Maxi at the University are the twin hills, which offer double the fun. When you visit, it’s almost mandatory to compare which hill generates the most shouts of joy.

The Little Hill in Karlslund Forest

In Karlslund Forest, there’s a small hill that’s perfect for sledding. It’s located behind the start and finish line of the Karlslund Trail. Right next to it is an outdoor gym, so adults can work out while the kids sled down the hill. But I’m sure everyone wants to go sledding, right?

Mackenbacken in Brickeberg

Between the Brickebacken and Brickeberg neighborhoods, right behind the gas station, there is a hill that the neighbors call Mackenbacken. In the winter, it makes for a great sledding hill.

Vallåkra Park in Varberga

Here you'll find gentle hills for a more leisurely ride—and a fun bush maze. All just a stone's throw from Varbergaskogen and Sagostigen.

Saxon Park in Brickebacken

In Saxon Park, there’s a sledding hill near the woods—and where the hill ends, the Adventure Trail begins. It leads to Kojstaden, where you can play in pre-built huts or build your own out of sticks and branches. Bringing your dog? The park has a fenced-in dog run where your four-legged friends can play in the snow.
