The Culture Quarter makes it easy to engage in and experience culture in all its forms. By bringing together a variety of cultural activities under one roof, boundaries are blurred—making collaboration both easier and more enjoyable.
The Culture Quarter is connected to two older buildings—the former Riksbank building, which houses the Örebro Art Gallery, and the Örebro Concert Hall. The newest building was designed by the architectural firm Wingårdhs Arkitekter and was completed in 2021. It houses the City Library, Örebro Culture School, Kulturbistron, the theater and dance programs from Karolinska High School’s arts program, and the Volymen and Akustiken performance venues. The building is also connected to Örebro Art Museum. The restaurant in the building, Kulturbistron, serves lunch and coffee. It also features a beautiful outdoor seating area with a view of the Svartån River.

Climate-smart building
The Cultural Quarter has solar panels on its roof, which supply nearly 40 percent of the building’s electricity needs. The building facades are covered with succulents that benefit both birds and bees, as well as absorb air pollutants. The plants also help collect rainwater and reduce noise.
