The Örebro Concert Hall is located along the Svartån River on Fabriksgatan, right in the heart of the city. Visitors have been able to enjoy music and art here since 1932. Following its renovation, the building now features a new concert hall with ample space and first-class acoustics. The concert hall also houses a restaurant and dedicated rooms for children’s and youth activities.
Örebro Concert Hall is the home venue of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, one of Örebro’s musical treasures. The Swedish Chamber Orchestra was founded in Örebro in 1995 and is an internationally sought-after symphony orchestra. A few years later, Thomas Dausgaard became the orchestra’s chief conductor and set an ambitious goal: to record all of Beethoven’s orchestral works.
It was during those recordings that the orchestra found its unique musical language and “sound”—many people are surprised that such a small ensemble (39 musicians) can play in a way that sounds like a full symphony orchestra.
