Live at Heart – a multi-day music festival in Örebro

Published July 17, 2023 / Updated September 22, 2026
For a few wonderful days in September, Örebro’s city center buzzes with music, poetry, film, and culture. The Showcase Festival takes over the streets, squares, churches, cafés, and courtyards—and spreads a festive atmosphere throughout the city.

Live at Heart is Sweden’s largest showcase festival and industry conference—and it’s held every year in September in downtown Örebro. Over the course of a few intense days, established and up-and-coming acts, bands, filmmakers, and industry professionals gather for performances, screenings, and seminars. And you’re invited.

The festival where the whole city is the stage

Live at Heart’s stages are spread throughout downtown Örebro. As a visitor, you can wander from concert to concert, from intimate cafés to grand churches, hotel bars, and temporary pop-up stages in town squares. It’s a festival where every corner of the city can surprise you with a guitar solo, a world-class singer-songwriter, or a moving poet.

Over 200 acts from around the world will take the stage—from Australia to Japan, from pop to jazz and punk to spoken word. It’s this diversity, combined with accessibility, that makes Live at Heart so special. You won’t recognize every name on the lineup, but that’s the point. This is the place where you’ll discover the next big artist before the rest of the world does.

A weekend of music, poetry, and film

Although music is at the heart of the festival, it’s far from the only thing happening. At Live at Heart, you can attend film screenings, poetry readings, panel discussions, and lectures. The festival’s industry section attracts creators from around the world. And as an audience member, you’re invited to participate in discussions about the future of the music scene, creative entrepreneurship, and sustainable cultural development.

It’s also an opportunity to experience Örebro’s cultural scene as a whole—museums, galleries, and restaurants often join in on the festival with their own events, special menus, and exhibitions.

Festival pass for those who want to experience it all

Live at Heart is perfect for those who love surprises. You might just discover your new favorite artist by chance—when you pop into a hotel for a drink and find yourself in the middle of an acoustic set by a singer-songwriter. The festival pass gives you access to all venues, but many stages are also open to walk-ins or have free admission.

Discover more of Örebro

For those visiting Örebro during Live at Heart, this is also the perfect opportunity to explore the rest of the city. Stop by Örebro Castle and experience both its magical atmosphere and exciting exhibitions. Stroll through Wadköping’s historic wooden district, among craft shops and well-stocked stores. Be sure to sample the city’s selection of restaurants and bars between shows. Come with an open mind—and leave with new favorite songs, memories, and impressions that will stay with you long after the final chord has faded away.
