1. Unknown parts of Oset and Rynningeviken
You’re probably familiar with the Oset and Rynningeviken Nature Reserve. But in the northern parts of the reserve lie the lesser-known areas of Munkatorp and Myrö. Here you’ll find a small, man-made lake and beautiful wetlands that might make you hum “I feel best in open landscapes…” The lovely bike and walking trails wind through the pastures and past picnic tables in leafy glades. If you want nature all to yourself, this is the place to go!
Tip: You'll also find Stora Hjortstorp Farm here, which has both a restaurant and a café.

2. The Hidden Gem: Mantorpsskogen
Another “hidden gem” among Örebro’s many nature reserves is Mantorpsskogen, which features two short hiking trails. The fallen trees and soft moss give the forest an enchanting atmosphere, even though it’s so close to the city. Many mushrooms grow here, along with some rare orchids that thrive in the limestone-rich soil. When the snow has just melted, if you’re lucky, you might spot the bomb mushroom, for example.
Tip: Don't miss the Tobacco Stone. Can you guess why it's called that?

3. Unimagined heights at Klunkhytte Fort
If you also enjoy scenic views and high elevations, then this tip is for you!Klunkhytte Skansis the ruins of an ancient fort located a short (but challenging) walk from the highway to Karlskoga. It’s not known for certain why these ancient forts were built. They were likely used as a place of refuge or a defensive structure for the village during times of unrest. In addition to its historical value, it’s also a beautiful viewpoint where you can look out over large parts of the Närke Plain, miles of forests, and spinning wind turbines.
Tip: Stage 11 of the Bergslagsleden trail passes through here. If you’d like to go on a day hike, you can continue the stage from here all the way to Garphyttan National Park.
