Flower-filled meadows in the national park
The area is known for its cultural history and flower-filled meadows, which are surrounded by dense natural forest. The national park consists largely of the former lands of Östra gården, which was one of four mining farms in the vicinity.

Hiking trails and rest areas
There are lovely hiking trails and beautiful rest areas where you can enjoy a picnic. At the top of Svensbodaberget, for example, you’ll find a magnificent view of the Närke Plain. The Bergslagsleden hiking trail, Stage 11 between Suttarboda and Leken, passes through the northern part of the park, but there are also shorter, easy-to-hike loops in the pastures.

The Seasons in Garphyttan National Park
Garphyttan National Park is beautiful all year round. In early summer, you can enjoy the delicate greenery of the trees while having a snack at the rest area. During the fall months, it’s especially lovely to take a walk beneath the richly colored deciduous trees. But our favorite season in the national park is spring, when bluebells, wood anemones, lilies of the valley, and the Närke region’s state flower, the cowslip, are in bloom. As early as March, the first flower emerges from its winter slumber: the daphne, which has pink flowers and blooms on bare twigs.
Accessibility
There is a spacious restroom and an accessible picnic area at the parking lot. A paved, easily accessible path leads from the parking lot to the flower-filled meadow. You can read more about accessibility in Garphyttan National Park on the Swedish National Parks website.
Nearby is First Camp Ånnaboda, where you can stay in cabins, camp, or rent a room, with hiking and mountain biking trails right around the corner.
