A nostalgic village

If you continue your trip to Nostalgibyn, located between Frövi and Fellingsbro, you’ll take a trip back in time to the era of Elvis, rocket cheese, and swing skirts. Here you can stroll through an authentic, recreated 1950s-style village. At Babsan’s Café, you can enjoy a smörgåsbord, a cheese sandwich, or a coffee break with coffee served in period-appropriate cups. Upbeat music plays from the jukebox, and the retro shop has everything for nostalgics and vintage lovers. Opening hours and more information are available on Nostalgibyn’s Facebook page.

When Count Magnus de la Gardie inherited Kägleholm, he rebuilt it into a magnificent castle with its own harbor and church. Today, only ruins remain, but the exciting history lives on within the walls. Descend into the underground and imagine what life at the castle might have been like here several hundred years ago.

Medieval churches and modern shrimp sandwiches

Right next door is Ödeby Church, one of the Swedish Church’s summer churches. The medieval church is open to visitors on weekends. Another beautiful, historically significant church is Glanshammar Church, which was built as early as the 12th century. Here you’ll find three of Närke’s runestones—and there’s reportedly a runestone embedded somewhere near the entrance.
