There are few things that can beat a truly beautiful view. If the sun is rising or setting, it can be nothing short of magical. Here are three tips for viewpoints with breathtaking views:
Rusakulan
Rusakulan offers breathtaking heights and magnificent views. This lookout point in the Kilsbergen mountains stands 265 meters above sea level. On clear days, you can see much of Närke, as well as glimpses of Västmanland and Östergötland. So pack your thermos and enjoy a coffee break with a view.
The mushroom
The Mushroom is a real highlight. The 58-meter-tall building, which until very recently served as the city’s water tower, is a well-known symbol of Örebro. Take the elevator up to the “hat” and enjoy panoramic views of the city, the plains, the forest, and the lake—and the blue silhouette of Kilsbergen.
Kvarntorp Mound
Kvarntorpshögen is a unique industrial landmark that has become a popular destination for day trips. In addition to the spectacular views, the hill features both the physically demanding “Trappan” staircase and the “Konst på Hög” sculpture park.

Lots of public art in Örebro

Cultural History at the Örebro County Museum
Örebro County Museum helps you discover the county’s cultural history. The physical museum is currently closed for renovation, but you can download the museum’s own app instead. It guides you through the plains and mining regions, in the city and the countryside, to attractions and cultural-historical sites. There are also quizzes and various challenges. The app is free to download and available for both iPhone and Android.
Art at Örebro Art Museum
Örebro Konsthall is located in the Kulturkvarteret district and serves as a place for inspiration and new perspectives. Here, the focus is on contemporary art, and there’s always something exciting happening—from exhibitions, viewings, and workshops to discussions, lectures, and concerts.

Dress for the weather and pack your backpack with some tasty snacks and drinks. Then you’re ready to explore what Örebro has to offer in winter.
The cross-country ski trails are waiting
Once the snow has fallen, it’s time to hit the trails. In and around Örebro, there are trails of various lengths in several locations. And even if there’s no snow in sight, there’s still hope for those eager to hit the trails—Ånnaboda has an artificial snow trail that’s up to three kilometers long.
Outdoor and indoor skating
Ice skating is fun for young and old alike. Once it’s been cold for a while and the ice feels safe, a skate on Lake Hjälmaren or one of the county’s other lakes is a wonderful experience. When the temperature drops low enough, Örebro Municipality, together with various clubs, also sets up ice rinks in several locations.
But of course, there are other options as well. Such as indoor skating at Trängens IP and Behrn Arena. Here, the rinks are open to the public on certain days and times. And don’t miss a spin or two on the ice rink at Krämartorget; it’s open from December 21, 2025, through February 28, 2026.
Full speed ahead on the sledding hill
Look for a hill with just the right slope and be sure to bring along some snacks for between runs. That way, your day on the sledding hill is sure to be a blast. And it doesn’t matter if you prefer to zoom down on a snow racer, glide along in a sturdy sled, or take on the challenge of a butt sled—Örebro has plenty of great sledding hills waiting for you.
