Light is Being
Light, sight, being, and truth form the theme of the artwork *Light is Being*, which stretches across the wall in the Kulturkvarteret’s main entrance. The words are carved into mirrored glass, allowing you to see your own reflection in the fragmented text landscape. The message is written in Swedish, Arabic, and Hindi; the latter is the native language of the artist, Shilpa Gupta.

Public Bench
For obvious reasons, the Banc Public is often nicknamed the Green Bench. It’s a green bench in the classic park style, but nearly three times as large as ordinary benches. The bench was designed by Lilian Bourgeats and is located in Henry Allard Park, with a view of the castle. And of course, you’re welcome to sit on it—if you can climb up.

Popcorn
“Popcorn” by Anton Hjärtmyr came to Örebro for OpenArt 2015—and stayed. The large popcorn kernels are a delight to look at and also invite visitors to play and climb on them. These days, the popular pop-up installation changes locations from year to year—and often pops up in places and areas that are under development or otherwise receiving extra attention. In 2026, you’ll find Popcorn at the Örebro Södra train station, which is set to undergo a major renovation and modernization.

Penguin
Penguin was created by Linnea Jörpeland and was installed in Stortorget during OpenArt 2013. When the art biennial ended that year, the City of Örebro purchased the artwork. It turned out to be a great choice, as both Örebro residents and visitors absolutely love the little figure. The penguin receives everything from scarves and band-aids to little notes. And many people have taken at least one selfie here—in front of City Hall and alongside the town’s cutest penguin.

Miracle
If you take the train between Örebro’s two stations, Södra and Centralstationen, you’ll see the large steel pipe structure with letters forming the word “Mirakel.” It is the artwork of the same name, created by Santiago Mostyn. When it’s dark, the letters glow in white neon, radiating a hopeful light, in keeping with the word’s meaning.

Threesome
"Tresamhet " is another piece of art that invites you to sit down. This inviting sculpture was created by Jelena Rundqvist and is located in Sveaparken.

Yield
Yield is a work of art consisting of 30 road signs arranged in a row, each tilted slightly until the entire sign has rotated a full circle. During OpenArt 2022, the artwork was displayed on the Vasa Bridge, with St. Nicholas Church in the background, and was subsequently donated by the artist SpY to the Odensbacken Road Association. So, if you want to see Yield, head over to Odensbacken.

Ichnotechno (machines that leave traces)
Ichnotechno (machines that leave traces) is a concrete sculpture created by Sidsel Bonde. In the large concrete circle, you can see the tracks left by a tractor tire—and you’re welcome to step inside and follow the wheel’s movement. The sculpture is located in Tunet Square in the Ladugårdsängen neighborhood.

Inframundo
Inframundo is a large mural by the Mexican artist SEGO. The word is Spanish and means “the underworld” or “the realm of the dead” in English. The artwork is located on a wall at the intersection of Drottninggatan and Änggatan in central Örebro.
