Siggebohyttan's Miner's Farm

Published June 8, 2021 / Updated April 9, 2026
Siggebohyttan is one of the most magnificent mining estates from the heyday of the Bergslagen region. As a visitor, you can wander through the rooms and use all your senses to experience what a prosperous miner’s home looked like around 1860.

Visit Siggebohyttan

The Siggebohyttan mining farm, dating from the late 18th century, is situated on a hill between Lindesberg and Nora. The building was designated a historic landmark in 1970 and is currently owned by the Örebro County Museum.

Construction of the farmhouse began around 1790; it contains 14 rooms and 3 kitchens. The barn houses carriages and coal sleds, and in the loft’s storage room, sheep fiddles hang from the ceiling. The coffee house was originally built as a farmhand’s cottage in the mid-1800s.

Siggebohyttan also features a small café and a shop offering locally sourced goods and carefully selected products, such as gifts, handicrafts, and books. During the summer season, the venue hosts a variety of events, including a folk music festival, Midsummer celebrations, concerts, workshops, children’s activities, and much more.
Guided tours for groups can also be booked.

Walk in the footsteps of history

Along the hiking trail, you’ll find traces of the hard work that brought prosperity to the miners and laid the foundation for the opulence of the mining estate. Follow the trail and see the remains of charcoal kilns, ironworks, and the heavy transport routes.

The hike takes you to the old mining area with its deep, water-filled mine shafts. The trail is marked, and there are also informational signs with text and images that tell the story of the area’s history and how mining and work were carried out. The trail is 800 meters one way and is divided into seven stages. It starts at the parking lot. A map is available at the information kiosk in the parking lot or at the café.
