Gustavsvik has long been known for its water park. And if your family loves to swim, then the water park is the obvious stop. But Gustavsvik is also teeming with fun activities on land. For more excitement and thrills, the brand-new pump track is a fun addition you won’t want to miss.

VOX Park, located between the Varberga and Oxhagen neighborhoods just outside town, checks all the boxes for what an outdoor family center should offer. As if that weren’t enough, there’s both a spectacular Tarzan jungle and a mysterious fairy-tale trail.

Skate at one of Sweden's coolest parks

Here’s the skatepark that has it all! Örebro Skatepark opened in 2015, designed by former pro skateboarder and architect Janne Saario. It has everything a skater could want and offers plenty of features to keep you busy for hours, but it’s also perfect for quick tricks. And if you forgot to pack your board? No worries—you can rent one here.

Book mini-golf as an activity

Get your focus on and visit one of Örebro’s creative and unique mini-golf courses. At Gustavsvik Campground, you’ll find a bold, locally inspired adventure golf course, where the holes are miniatures of some of the city’s most famous landmarks. And at Svampen, the Örebro Mini-Golf Club has its twin 18-hole courses: a challenging adventure course and a more traditional, classic course steeped in history. Will you pull off the feat of making a hole-in-one—or, as they say in the world of mini-golf, “hitting a nail”?

Discover the blend of past and present in Wadköping

Wadköping isn’t just a beautiful place with historic buildings. It seems to be full of authentic little alleys that are brimming with playfulness everywhere you look. Dinner for the whole family on the menu? No matter what your favorite food is, the wide variety of options here won’t disappoint anyone in your group. Are you in the mood for an early dinner in a grand castle setting? Then Lill-Anna’s castle café is the place to go. In addition to delicious coffee and pastries, there are also heartier options like pies and salads. And a (harmless) torture chamber to serve as a cozy dining nook!

Pizza perfection hardly gets any better than going on a full-fledged pizza tour. Yep, you heard right. Start with the appetizer pizza topped with roe at Sorella, which is open in the summer; try one of Mocca Deli’s thin-crust pizzas for the main course; and top off the tour with a dessert pizza featuring strawberries and Nutella at Fratelli.

Enjoy nature reserves and locally sourced produce around Naturens hus

Just outside the city limits lies the Oset and Rynningeviken nature reserve—the perfect spot for kids with energy to burn and animal lovers. And there are plenty more wonderful moments in nature right nearby. Naturens Hus has made wholesome, natural fare its specialty, whether it’s a snack or lunch. And the terrace, with the lush nature reserve right next door, rounds out the experience perfectly.

Success with the list at Lustiga Landet

Looking for more fun? I thought so! Head to Vintrosa and venture into Lustiga Landet’s “Promised Land” and obstacle courses that put both your mind and your feet to the test. Lustiga Landet is small-scale, creatively self-produced, and gives you the feeling of being in a giant outdoor living room. The childlike spirit of creators Carina and Torbjörn permeates everything, from the first play station to the last maze. Lustiga Landet is open seasonally, so check the opening hours in advance.

Fun Run at JumpYard

How awesome would it be to have an entire park full of trampolines? And these days, you can make that dream a reality even outside the gym. Like at JumpYard. It’s a place where you simply can’t help but jump. It’s bursting with opportunities for jumping and playing, but also offers a mix of other activities—like challenging climbing walls, an awesome go-kart track, and fields for impromptu soccer games.

Fun for kids at Örebro Castle

The history of Örebro Castle isn't particularly kid-friendly. But it really is history. These days, the castle is a real must-see for kids. Plus, the castle is home to Laban, the little ghost, who's ready for mischief and adventure.
