City Park
In Stadsparken, right by the Svartån River, lies one of Örebro’s most popular playgrounds—a green oasis featuring zip lines, climbing nets, a splash pad, mini cabins, and a fairy-tale theme. The award-winning park itself is worth a visit, with its large lawns, sculptures, and proximity to both Wadköping and Örebro Castle.
Stora Holmen
A must-visit for families with children is Stora Holmen, the island in the Svartån River located across from Stadsparken. The island can be reached via a small footbridge or by rowboat. In the summer, there are cute animals to meet, pedal cars to drive around a miniature town, and plenty of space to play. An ice cream stand, Game of Thrones-inspired play areas, and lots of space to run around. Stora Holmen is a true classic for both Örebro residents and visitors—and a place to return to, summer after summer.

Theater Plan
Teaterplan is located right in the heart of town. As the name suggests, it’s right next to Örebro Teater. A hidden gem, as many Örebro residents would say—yes, almost like a secret spot tucked away in the middle of the city. Here, children can play water games with imaginative characters and swing high enough to feel butterflies in their stomachs. Those who aren’t playing, young or old, enjoy hanging out on the lounge-style benches. Maybe playing a game of chess—or two. If you get hungry, the restaurant Så mycket mer is right next door, in the theater building.

The mushroom
Another favorite is the playground at Svampen, the city’s iconic water tower. The large, inviting playground, complete with swings, slides, and climbing structures, attracts many visitors every day, all year round. Right next door are large rock formations perfect for picnicking. After playtime? Take the elevator up to Svampen for coffee and a view, or challenge the family to a game of mini-golf or adventure golf at the facility at the base of the water tower.
Sörbybacken
Sörbybacken offers a different kind of adventure. Here, things are a bit more fast-paced and exciting—at both high and lower elevations. In the summer, the area attracts visitors with a high-rope course, a pump track, obstacle courses, and the option to bring your own kickbike or mountain bike.
Gustavsvik
Right in the heart of the Gustavsvik area lies one of Örebro’s largest playgrounds—a place where children’s imaginations can run wild. Here you’ll find climbing frames, slides, and swings suitable for children of all ages. The playground is open to everyone, whether you’re staying at the campground or just visiting. In addition to the playground, there are also bouncy castles, electric cars, a pump track, and a multi-purpose arena for soccer and basketball.

Eagle's Rest
Here, children can zoom down an eight-meter-high slide, zip along the double zip line, and explore trails, huts, and tunnels. For the youngest visitors, there are sand and water play areas where they can control the flow of water using pumps and follow it through a play stream made of natural materials.
Örebro is a city that takes play seriously—no matter where you live or where you’re from. So pack a picnic basket and head out to Örebro’s play areas. Because here, there aren’t just one or two playgrounds, but a full 130 of them—a veritable smorgasbord of children’s activities, green spaces, and unexpected experiences.
