Classic things to see and do in Örebro

Örebro Castle

No visit to Örebro is complete until you’ve stopped by the castle. Right in the heart of the city stands this majestic 700-year-old structure, which opens its doors year-round to visitors from near and far. Here you’ll find castle halls, exhibitions, and children’s activities—as well as a castle gift shop and a castle café.

The Iconic Mushroom

The 58-meter-tall building, which has served as the city’s water tower for many years, is perhaps Örebro’s most iconic landmark. “The Mushroom” is a popular destination where you can enjoy coffee and pastries, have lunch, and take in a fantastic view of Örebro and the surrounding area.

The Wooden District in Wadköping

In Wadköping, you can experience what life in Örebro was like in the past, while modern-day life goes on in full swing among the cobblestone streets and historic buildings. Here you’ll find museums, exhibitions, artisans, shops, a general store, a playhouse, cafés, a restaurant, and an ice cream stand. A place to enjoy for both young and old.

Gustavsvik and Lost City – Adventures and Activities

Gustavsvik has something for the whole family. The Lost City water park, with its jungle theme, adventure canoes, and wave machines, attracts many children and adults year-round. The area also features a five-star campground, a seasonal adventure golf course, indoor and outdoor gyms, summer concerts, a restaurant, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

The Oset Nature Reserve and Rynningeviken

A scenic attraction, within walking and biking distance of town, is the Oset and Rynningeviken Nature Reserve. Locals and visitors alike come here to enjoy the stunning scenery and peaceful countryside. If you’d like to explore the reserve a bit further, head north to areas like Munkatorp and the Myrö Wetlands. Be sure to stop by Stora Hjortstorp Farm or Naturens Hus for lunch and a snack.

Full speed ahead at Sörbybacken

Sörbybacken offers activities that will get your adrenaline pumping. Ziplining, a high ropes course, and paintball—but also more laid-back activities like soccer golf. Right next to the slope is Sörens vedugn, where you can order wood-fired pizza, pasta, and other tasty treats.

Kilsbergen Nature Reserve

Kilsbergen offers extraordinary nature experiences and outdoor activities. Here you can relax, hike, bike, fish, swim, enjoy a sauna, camp, rent a cabin, paddle, and much more. By car or bus, you can get from downtown Örebro to one of the area’s entrances in just about 25 minutes.

It offers beautiful surroundings and walking paths, a manor house garden, shops, and fun activities for children, such as Tekniska Kvarnen and Barnens Trädgård. The Hästhagen recreational area is also located along the river that winds through the area.

The Charming Lindbacka Mill
